US Marines froze to death on maneuvers near Russian border

American soldiers froze to death during a training exercise on Russian-Norwegian border. New Arctic clothing could not withstand a 40-degree frosts.

About 200 U.S. Marines froze during a training exercise on Russian-Norwegian border because of the poor quality uniforms, writes Defense News.

During the tests it turned out that the new Arctic outfit not withstanding temperatures below minus 45 degrees, and manufacturers have not considered the fact that coming from body moisture can freeze in layers of clothing.

Exercises the U.S. military has faced other problems: in the cold could not do this lightning, dropped the boots out of the bindings, cracked backpacks, parted at the seams clothes.

Exercise Joint Viking 2017 took place in early March in Finnmark, located in the Arctic circle.
