Ukraine denied involvement in the journalist Sharoika to espionage in Belarus

Main intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian defense Ministry denied the information that the Ukrainian citizen Pavel Sharoika engaged in espionage on the territory of Belarus. Earlier, the KGB of Belarus has reported that Ukrainian citizen charged with espionage, he was arrested in the Republic three weeks ago.

The defense Ministry of Ukraine refuted the information of the KGB of Belarus about the involvement of Ukrainian journalist Paul Sharoika to conduct intelligence activities, and that he was acting intelligence officer. About it reports «Interfax».

According to the statement of the Ukrainian side, Sharoika served in the Gur of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine as the head of the press service. However, in 2009, he was dismissed from military service for health reasons, and then worked as a journalist for the Ukrainian media, including a reporter on the territory of Belarus.

Ukrainian journalist Paul Sharoika was detained in Minsk on 25 October. On the same day, in the apartment where Paul lives with his family — wife Elena and daughter — were searched. The detention was carried out of the KGB of Belarus.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim reported that Sharoika accused of spying and the establishment of the Republic intelligence network. He is in the KGB remand prison under investigation. In addition, it was reported that Sharoika he allegedly admitted that he is a career officer of the intelligence of Ukraine.
