Head of the «Ukrainian Railways» Wojciech Balczun responded negatively to the proposal of the Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan on running trains to Iran, which will follow in a bypass Russia.
Also Balcon noted that the Ukrainian company did not participate in the discussion of the project with the railroad to Iran. The implementation of this project is impossible and, in fact, is a «train to nowhere», said the head of «Ukrainian Railways».
To pave a similar route, you need to pave 160 miles of railroad track from the nearest station, Iranian Rasht, because at the moment, will be able to reach only up to the Azerbaijani city of Astara. For the construction of 160 km take three to four years, and the necessary equipment to be transported to Iran by car.
Earlier, the Ukrainian authorities have launched a route to bypass Russia. In 2016 one train in the direction of the «silk road» is stuck in China due to the lack of passengers, and the other returned to Ukraine without a single client.railroad
