The Walloon Parliament will not agree to the signing of the trade agreement with Canada

The Belgian region of Wallonia will not give consent to the signing of a comprehensive trade agreement between the EU and Canada (SETA), said the head of the local Parliament andré Antoine.

«To comply with the ultimatum would be impossible,» said Antoine, the radio station Bel RTL.

Previously, the government of Wallonia has blocked the signing of SETH. The EU has given time until the evening of 24 October to the regional Parliament decided on the solution. If after the specified period of Wallonia would not approve the signing of CETA, scheduled for 27 October in Brussels EU summit — Canada, where it is scheduled, will be cancelled.

CETA — analogue of the Transatlantic partnership agreement in the field of trade and investment (TTIP), negotiations on the conclusion of which the EU conducts with the US and against the conclusions of which are the individual representatives of the European community, as well as small and medium-sized businesses. They believe that these types of agreements beneficial only to multinational companies.
