The Ukrainian foreign Ministry has sent Russia a note of protest due to the Yalta forum

The foreign Ministry of Ukraine has expressed protest to Russia in connection with the Yalta forum. The statement claimed that the event, held in the Crimea from 20 to 22 April, is a violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine. In Kiev urged an end to «the practice of holding without the consent of Ukraine any activities on its sovereign territory.»

Ukraine opposed the holding in Yalta on 20-22 April, the international economic forum and has sent Russia a note of protest.

As reported on the website of the MFA of Ukraine, Moscow is obliged to stop «the practice of holding without the consent of Ukraine any activities on its sovereign territory,» because such conduct is «a gross violation» of state sovereignty of Ukraine, the country’s legislation and norms of international law.

The MFA also asks Russia to take «urgent measures to restore the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine».

III international Yalta economic forum held in the Crimea from 20 to 22 April. On the sidelines of the event will be a signing of a dozen agreements worth more than 100 billion rubles.

Crimea and Sevastopol became part of Russia following a referendum in March 2014. Ukraine, US, EU and several other countries called the annexation of Crimea «annexation». Moscow insists that the procedure was conducted in full accordance with international law. Vladimir Putin believes that the issue of Crimea «closed permanently».
