The Ukrainian authorities accused Moscow of understating the number of Ukrainians in Russia

The Russian authorities carried out «a policy of denationalization of Ukrainians in Russia systematically understate the numbers living in Russia representatives of the Ukrainian people. To such conclusion, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko, reports «Correspondent».

«A question of support of Ukrainians in Russia is very important. In fact, in Russia live about 10 million Ukrainians. But the last official Russian census showed the figure of 2 million, and the penultimate numbered 3 million,» said Kirilenko at the opening of the VI world forum of Ukrainians in Kyiv.

«Implemented a deliberate policy of denationalization of Ukrainians in Russia: the Kremlin wants to force them to be enemies of his people and to forget their roots. But no one who feels himself a Ukrainian in Russia, not Ukraine condemns and does not denounce it, «continued the Vice-Prime Minister.

Kirilenko welcomed 16 Ukrainians who came to the forum from Russia, and lamented the fact that the Ukrainian community in the neighboring country today have a hard time. Ukrainians in Russia are persecuted, those who organize provocations, said Deputy Prime Minister.

«In the European Union, the international community, we are interesting as a unique nation with their achievements, history, language and culture. And as it did not like our enemies, from their own national identity of Ukrainians will not give up, «concluded Kirilenko.
