In the Kremlin explained the absence of the President of Russia at the funeral of the head of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. To participate in the farewell ceremony Vladimir Putin prevented a tight schedule.

The Russian President was unable to attend the funeral of the leader of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. As explained by the press Secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, the administration has considered all possible options, but the busy schedule did not allow Putin to say goodbye to Karimov.

The thing is that now the Russian President is a member of the Eastern economic forum and, as explained the representative, «can not speak» at the plenary session. Flights from Vladivostok to Samarkand, where was the funeral, in the best case will take about seven hours one way. Given this, Vladimir Putin had to refuse to participate in the farewell ceremony.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov was buried in Samarkand, in the historic cemetery of Shakhi Zinda. The head of the Republic died the day before after suffering a stroke. To say goodbye to Karimov attended by delegates from 17 countries. The Russian office is headed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
