The Swedish prosecution authority discontinued the investigation against Assange

The Swedish prosecution authority decided to terminate the investigation against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, is accused of raping two women in 2010. The court must revoke the order for his arrest.

Swedish prosecutors have closed the investigation against the Australian Julian Assange of rape, reports «Interfax».

«Senior Prosecutor Marian Nude decided to stop the investigation against Assange on suspicion of rape», — stated in the message of Prosecutor’s office of the country.

The decision was taken after a period of questioning Assange in the Embassy of Ecuador in London. Prosecutors also recommended the repeal of a previously issued warrant for his arrest.

In 2012 Wikileaks founder Australian Julian Assange was granted political asylum in the Embassy of Ecuador in London to avoid extradition to Sweden. There he was accused of raping two women in 2010. Stockholm threatened to deport Assange to the US, where he faces up to 35 years in prison or the death penalty for releasing classified materials of the state Department. The founder of Wikileaks denies all allegations and considers them politically motivated.
