The state Duma has started to prepare a statement in connection with the decision of the IOC not to allow the Russian team to the Olympic games in Korea. It is expected that Russian lawmakers will turn to members in other countries «with a request to support the Russian athletes,» reports TASS. The draft statement will be discussed on 8 December at the plenary session, said the speaker of the lower house of Parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin.
«We hold consultations with all political factions and Friday (December 8) submit a draft resolution, which we will discuss in the plenary hall,» — said Volodin.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on physical culture, sport, tourism and youth Affairs Valery Gazzaev, told TASS that the Duma should appeal to the international Olympic Committee «to abandon the principle of collective responsibility and the revision of decision» for team Russia.
Otherwise parlamentarii came to a mutual opinion on the necessity to study in a short time suspended, based on evidence and concrete facts, responses by the international Olympic Committee’s decision on non-admission of the Russian team at the Olympics.
