British scientists from University College London found a mechanism by which the formed individual elements of RNA, the ribonucleotides. This process is necessary for the emergence of RNA, which is the beginning of life on our planet. The news according to news Agency RIA Novosti, citing a study published by the site Phys.org.
It is known that molecules of nucleotides are divided into two groups: purines and pyrimidines. Previously, scientists thought that they could not be formed at the same time, since the conditions of their synthesis are incompatible, but a new study suggests otherwise. Experts have found that 8-oxo-adenosine, 8-oxo-inosine, which are purine molecules, can be formed under the same conditions as pyrimidines. At the moment experts are working, find out if the chain of 8-oxo-purines coding sequence of a protein that will finally testify about their involvement in the formation of RNA world.
