The Kremlin urged not to put pressure on DPRK sanctions

Sanctions are a futile approach to solving North Korean issues, said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. According to him, the situation should be solved by political and diplomatic means.

Russia opposes sanctions dialogue to resolve the North Korean issues, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He commented on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

«Russia was never a supporter of sanctions and dialogue. We believe this is a futile approach,» quotes his words TASS.

Thus a press-the Secretary of the President of Russia stressed that certain international influence on Pyongyang should be rendered, «to encourage all parties to show restraint, accuracy and prudence».

«The situation is fraught with unpredictable exacerbations, and we are concerned about that,» said Sands. He reminded that North Korea is on Russia’s borders in the East.

«We support the continuation of political and diplomatic efforts of resolving the issue of the DPRK, including in the framework of the established international formats,» he added.

Earlier, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow will not accept a nuclear-missile adventurous Pyongyang’s actions, as well as the unilateral actions of the «international players» on the Korean Peninsula. According to him, the US should not be actions that violate international law.

As described in the publication Financial Times, the US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Washington will tighten the sanctions regime against the DPRK as well as Iran and Syria. In particular, will be introduced direct sanctions against citizens and companies of North Korea, not against the Chinese companies doing business in this country.
