The EU will allocate €50 million to support the decentralization of Ukraine

The European Union intends to allocate €50 million in support of decentralization in Ukraine (we are talking about expanding the powers of local authorities).

The European Commission launched the action Programme for the EU support in Eastern Ukraine, which involves the allocation of funds in aid to Kiev-controlled areas of Lugansk and Donetsk regions.

In the EU believe that this initiative can help to return self-proclaimed DPR and LPR as part of Ukraine.

«With adequate funding, regeneration programs, and effective way to inform about it you can reduce the threat of spreading instability emanating from the region. There’s also the possibility that it will serve as an example which one day will contribute to the reintegration into the Ukraine areas under the control of the separatists», — the report says.
It is noted that the EU will allocate money for civil initiatives «strengthen social cohesion», including the formation of special associations of citizens of Ukraine, which will work to strengthen social ties.

According to the EU plan controlled Kiev territory of Donbass will be «to support dialogue within and between populations of reconciliation, reintegration of IDPs (persons displaced within the country. — RT), local governance and development local media using the approach that takes into account the risk of conflict situations».

Earlier it became known that the EU has allocated almost €90 million for the development of systemic reforms.
