The EU approved a number of temporary trade preferences for Ukraine, which will enter into force on 1 September 2017. The EU Council called it their duty to help Ukraine, while the country is in dire economic Straits.
The EU Council approved the temporary trade preferences for Ukraine for a period of three years, the decision will come into force on 1 September 2017, reports TASS with reference to the statement of the EU Council at level of foreign Ministers.
The Ministers stated that the EU should support Ukraine and to strengthen economic and trade ties, especially in the context of the country’s ongoing conflict.
Preferences will affect the supply in the European Union, in particular, the Ukrainian honey, juice, wheat, corn, tomatoes. It is also planned to cancel import duties on copper, aluminium, fertilizers, and television audio equipment.
July 4, preferences were approved by the European Parliament. Introduced trade preferences for Ukraine under the Association agreement with the EU. Instead, Kiev is obliged to fight corruption in the country and to abide by democratic standards.
