The EU has accused Ukraine of undermining public confidence in the effective fight against corruption

The General Prosecutor of Ukraine accused of «undermining confidence» in the fight against corruption. Accusations in Kiev was organized by the European external action service, as evidenced by the relevant message on the website of the EEAS.

It is noted that the public disclosure of the investigation of corruption from the Prosecutor General reduces the capacity of the national anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to efficiently conduct investigations and undermines public confidence in the effective fight against corruption.

According to the text of the message that combating corruption is «the main element of development of relations between Ukraine and the EU».

The EU believes that Ukraine needs to strengthen its efforts in order to ensure the independence and effectiveness of anti-corruption institutions.

IReactor previously reported that Pushkov commented on concerns of the US state Department about the expulsion of journalists from Russia.
