More than half the residents of Utah believe that former Governor and current U.S. Ambassador to Russia John huntsman will be able to establish relations with Moscow, a survey conducted by the newspaper Salt Lake Tribune. The survey showed that 51% of Utah residents think that huntsman will be able to ease the tension between the two world powers, while 2% said that the us Ambassador will only worsen relations with Russia. About 35% doubt that the diplomat will be able to make an impact.
The newspaper also reminded that huntsman praised bilateral relations with Moscow on «the lowest level in history.»
John huntsman has replaced John Tefft, who headed the American Embassy in Russia in 2014. The diplomat said he intends to work to restore confidence between Moscow and Washington and strengthen bilateral relations.
