American sociologists explained the reason for the increase in the number of prisoners in US prisons.
Experts believe that this number is increasing due to the increased number of different relapses.
Before coming to this conclusion, social workers analyzed more than 365 thousand various crimes. In particular, they took into account the penalty, the gravity of the offence and the presence of a past criminal record.
So, it turned out that in 1981, 40% of the offenders already had a criminal record, and by 2001 this figure rose to 60%.
Note that after the judicial reform in the USA the number of new prisoners decreased, but increased the number of cases in places of deprivation of liberty back to those who had already served his sentence.
