Sergei Sobyanin took part in a solemn event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Moscow public organization of veterans. The jubilee concert was in the Luzhniki stadium. The mayor during his speech noted that the veterans help to preserve the historical memory in the capital. In recent years, in the city there are dozens of monuments and memorial plaques in honor of heroes of the great Patriotic war, and 20 of the capital’s streets received the names of veterans.

Metropolitan veterans Council is one of the largest public organizations not only in Moscow but also in the country. It brings together almost half a million veterans and pensioners. Despite his advanced age they daily meet with students, educate young Muscovites the spirit of patriotism.
