Russian security forces were two times more likely to turn to Google for user data

The American Internet company Google for the year 2016 provided the Russian government, twice more information, than a year earlier. This is stated in the latest report of the Corporation.

According to representatives of Google, the company approached by various governmental agencies of Russia, who are engaged in solving crimes. Also information about the users demand some courts and investigative organizations. Google all requests carefully checked for legality and only then provide the necessary information. It is noted that in 2015 Russia made 464 request, 12% of which were answered. However, in 2016, Russian companies turned to Google 471 times, and the company was able to provide information in 22% of them.
