On 12 December, the Federation Council held a special joint meeting to discuss the possibility of applying personal sanctions against the leadership of WADA. In the words of Senator Andrey Klimov, a majority of the States members of the WADA are NATO countries.
The Federation Council will consider the application of personal sanctions against the leadership of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA). It will be raised at the meeting, which will be attended by athletes, parliamentarians and diplomats, the newspaper «Izvestia».
According to the Chairman of the interim Commission of the Federation Council on the protection of state sovereignty and prevent interference in Russia’s internal Affairs Andrey Klimov, the decision to convene the session was taken long before the application of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the disqualification of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
In his opinion, the people who pushed for this decision, are irrelevant to the sport. «We need to bring them to the light of God and to demonstrate that this decision is not about the sport,» said Sen.
Also Klimov stressed that the majority of the States members of the WADA are NATO countries.
