In Turkey, the authorities intend for Saturday, July 16, to decide on the death penalty the participants of the rebellion, reports TASS.
On 16 July, stated at a press conference, the Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim. According to him, today, Saturday, July 16, the constitutional Council of the country will gather at the extraordinary meeting to decide on the return of the death penalty because of the perfect in the night of Saturday the coup attempt.
He recalled that Turkey abolished the death penalty today, however, the Constitutional Council and the representatives of the political parties will have to decide on the advisability of the return of this punishment.
According to the Prime Minister, in a coup killed 161 people and more than 20 rebels, and about 1,400 people were injured. In the preparation and organization of the rebellion, the Turkish authorities accused the opposition of a preacher and social activist Fethullah Gulen living in the United States, and the former commander of the Turkish air force Akin Ozturk. On suspicion of involvement in the coup arrested 2839 of the military, including senior army officers.
