Poroshenko sued for blocking Russian social networks

Ukrainian lawyer appealed to the court demanding to cancel the decree Poroshenko about blocking Russian social networks. They compared the actions of the Ukrainian authorities with the policy of the DPRK, although the country is committed to Europe.

Ukrainian lawyer Roman Likhachev appealed to the Supreme administrative court for rescission of the decree of the President of Petro Poroshenko on banning a number of online resources, including popular Russian social networks.

The lawsuit of the human rights activist will be the President Poroshenko and the national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC). Likhachev hopes that court to the President will consider «no pressure.» As an example, he cited the practice of States.

«Look at the United States — where the President’s decision to quietly suspend and appeal against it, it is normal practice» — he wrote.

In the comments a lawyer has compared the actions of the Ukrainian authorities with the policy of North Korea, despite the fact that the country is committed to Europe.

May 16 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on the extension of sanctions against Russia. The ban includes a number of Russian media and IT-companies such as Yandex and Mail.Ru, «Vkontakte» and «Classmates». The reason for the block was «anti Russian propaganda».
