«Our position is calm,» the foreign Ministry commented on Kazakhstan’s transition to Latin alphabet

The Russian Federation is pleased with the decision of Kazakhstan to switch to Latin in the near future. This was reported by a news publication to the Russian RT, citing an interview with Deputy foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin.

«I think our position is calm,» he said, adding that it is an internal affair of Kazakhstan to define to what extent and which languages will be used. He also added that any problems in connection with the transfer currently occurs.

The comment was given to the statement of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree on the transfer of the alphabet of the Kazakh language from Cyrillic to the Latin alphabet in a short time.

Earlier it was reported that the President of Kazakhstan issued a decree on gradual translation of the alphabet of the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet.
