Today it became known about death of outstanding Russian geologist, doctor of geological-mineralogical Sciences, Chairman of the scientific and technical Council of Rosatom Nikolay p. Laverov.
According to RIA Novosti, citing representative of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Laverov passed away at the age of 86 years.
The future geologist was born on January 12 1930 in the Arkhangelsk region. For their activities, Nikolai Laverov is a recognized leader of the Russian scientists, in particular, in the field of Geology, Geochemistry of uranium and the development of mineral resources. He made a great contribution to the study of the fuel resources for nuclear and hydrocarbon energy.
Laverov was honored with numerous awards, one of them is a Large gold medal named after Lomonosov. In 2006, the RAS gave it to a geologist for his outstanding contribution to the settlement of mineral resource issues in Russia.
