Minsk commented on the introduction of the Russian passport control on the border with Belarus

The decision to introduce passport controls at the border with Belarus is a sovereign affair of Russia, has declared on Friday to journalists the state Secretary of the security Council Stanislav Zas, RIA Novosti reported.

«A relatively new feature that has formed around our external borders, is that on the Eastern border, the Russian side has unilaterally introduced a limited passport control in respect of foreign nationals crossing the border between Belarus and Russia,» said Zas.

«This does not affect the transit of goods and passengers in General, but delivers some inconvenience to foreign citizens, who are now forced to look for a more long detour… But it is the case of the Russian Federation. If they believe this increases the security of their country is their right», — said the state Secretary of the security Council.
