Three-time Olympic figure skating champion and state Duma Deputy Irina Rodnina considers that to make a decision about the participation of athletes from Russia on the Olympic games in South Korea in neutral status should the whole country.
«If we send our athletes to the Olympic games, they need to understand whose honor and protect who serve. If the whole country will say that we should not take part in it, and the resentment of athletes will be less», — said Irina Rodnina in an interview with RT.
She also added that, despite the sad outcome of the dispute around our team, the Russian athletes have every right to come and take part in the games. The final decision about participation in the Olympics in February 2018 will be made on 12 December on the Council of Olympians.
«Now there is a lot of talk on this subject. Someone calls to boycott the Games. I can only say one thing: on 12 December the Council will convene Olympians that will decide», — said Irina Rodnina in an exclusive interview with RT.
We will remind, the IOC, on 5 December decided to suspend the Russian team from participation in the games, allowing them to apply for the competition held every four years only individual athletes under a neutral flag, without the use of state symbols of the Russian Federation.
