The Greek foreign Minister Nikos Kotsias urged the Turkish authorities to abandon plans to bring back the death penalty for the participants of the coup attempt.
«Winners should be magnanimous in regards to the losers and show restraint, not to impose the death penalty», said Kolasa.
He noted that Greece, like all EU countries welcomed the failure of the coup, but encourages the Turkish authorities to adhere to democracy and to respect the interests of religious, social and ethnic groups.
According to Kosiak, Athens has not yet decided whether to grant the request for extradition of eight officers, which Turkish authorities accuse of involvement in the coup,
«The decision on the results of eight Turkish soldiers who had fled to Greece on a military helicopter after the failure of the coup, will take the judges. They will take into account the role of the fugitive rebels in the coup», — said the Minister.
