Fillon makes no sense to say that Russia should leave Crimea

Crimea is historically Russian, so it is senseless to demand from Moscow to leave the Peninsula. This opinion was expressed by the candidate for the French presidency from the Republican party, former Prime Minister Francois Fillon. According to him, Crimea
historically, culturally and linguistically Russian territory.

«It is impossible to deny that the Crimea is historically, culturally, and linguistically is Russian. It makes no sense to say that Russia needs to leave Crimea. It will never happen,» he said.

Crimea and the Federal city of Sevastopol became part of Russia following a referendum in March 2014. Ukraine, US, EU and several other countries called the annexation of Crimea «annexation».

Moscow insists that the procedure was conducted in full accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Earlier Vladimir Putin stressed that the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
