Turkey has no less rights to participate in operations against the terrorist group Islamic state (DAISH, banned in Russia) in Iraqi Mosul than the US, which in 2003 went into Iraq, said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
«The operation in Mosul participating countries that have no relationship to the region only on the basis that they were invited to Baghdad… Then why are the Iraqi authorities not refused to those who were in the country without any invitation? Whether to invite them (the US) Saddam Hussein 14-15 years ago? But they nevertheless entered the country», — quotes the words of the Turkish leader, Anadolu Agency.
Erdogan believes that Turkey is trying not to admit to participation in operations in Mosul, so as not to allow Ankara to disrupt the plans for fomenting sectarian confrontation under the pretext of the fight against DAISH.
The second largest city in Iraq, Mosul in 2014 is the main stronghold of DAISH in the country. In the night of Monday the Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi announced the beginning of military operation to liberate the city from radicals.
