Copy failed: Ukraine has failed medical reform, unlike Russia

In Kiev decided not to strain on new health care reform, and instead, the government copied the similar Russian initiative, which ended five years ago. However, if in Russia the reform was smooth and stuck, in the Ukraine it was a total failure. One of the Ukrainian TV channels said political analyst Sergei Belasco.

According to experts, the success of health reform in Russia is that the country has a stable economy, good state budget, and GDP per person in Russia in 5 times exceeds the same indicator for Ukrainians. «There’s the money follows the patient. But in the Ukrainian realities — that will follow the patient? There’s no money left», said Belasco, adding that Kiev needs to develop its own strategy and not copy someone else, which can only work in some big cities. The analyst also stressed that hospitals will not be massively close, but instead, medical facilities will «slowly and surely die.»
