Brussels insists on the entry of Romania and Bulgaria into the Schengen area

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker urged to include in the Schengen area Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia the near future for the security of the external borders of the EU. Juncker also ruled out the entry of Turkey into the EU, as Ankara does not respect the rule of law.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that should be included in the Schengen zone Romania and Bulgaria, RIA Novosti reported.

Should the European Union strengthen its external borders due to the accession of new countries to the Schengen area. Soon Croatia will also join it, said Juncker, as soon as you fulfill all the necessary obligations.

He also noted that in the near future, Turkey should not count on joining the Euro area, because Ankara has neglected the rule of law, justice and other fundamental values.

The relationship between the EU and Ankara deteriorated after the attempted armed coup in Turkey. The European Union criticized the mass arrests and the reaction of the Turkish authorities on the incident.
