A significant weakening of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation in the second and third quarters of 2017 will lead to the weakening of the ruble. On Friday the head of the Ministry Maxim Oreshkin, reports «Interfax».
According to Oreshkin, in the first quarter of this year there was a seasonal strong balance of payments and capital inflows that have resulted in the «deviations» with the ruble. «What we expect — the second or third quarter balance of payments will be significantly worse, and the ruble naturally will adjust,» predicts the official.
He also recalled that in the basic forecast of Ministry of economic development the dollar at the end of 2017 is 68 rubles in the fall in oil prices to $ 40 per barrel. If oil prices remain at current levels, the U.S. currency will cost 62-63 of the ruble.
At 16:00 GMT, the dollar was worth 56,35 of the ruble. Brent crude was trading around the level 53,17 per barrel.
